Patrick Murphy, aged 38 from Drumcairn Parade in Tallaght, was sentenced to nine years imprisonment for the killing of a 20-year-old outside his home. The incident occurred in July 2024 when the victim stole from Murphy's unlocked van in the early hours of the morning. Murphy has previous convictions for knife crime. During sentencing at the Central Criminal Court, Mr Justice Kerida Naidoo acknowledged that Murphy had expressed remorse for his actions both through his legal counsel and in written form.
