Blaise Metreweli, the new head of MI6, warned that global power is increasingly transferring to tech corporations and sometimes to individuals. She said power is becoming more diffuse and unpredictable as control over critical technologies shifts away from states. Metreweli added that intelligence activity now operates in a space between peace and war. Frustration has grown among Labour politicians over interference by tech billionaires, but Metreweli did not name individuals and instead emphasized eroding societal trust and weaponized information.
