As of Monday, Sept. 2, the Coffee Pot Fire has burned 11,625 acres and is 13% contained, prompting a mandatory evacuation in Tulare County.
The fire was ignited by lightning on Aug. 10, and it steadily grew before escalating in size from 6,000 acres to almost 12,000 acres in just a few days.
A new evacuation zone was added to the north, impacting the community of Oak Grove, while the southern sector evacuation was downgraded to a warning.
Due to the Coffee Pot Fire, access roads, trails, and campgrounds in Sequoia National Park, including the Mineral King area, have been closed.
