First layers of soil to be laid on 101 Freeway wildlife crossing, the world's largest

The Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing, a pivotal structure for wildlife connectivity, is nearing a key milestone with the laying of soil on the overpass above the 101 Freeway. This overpass aims to safely facilitate the movement of mountain lions, deer, and other wildlife between the Simi Hills and the Santa Monica Mountains, addressing critical issues like habitat isolation and animal mortality. Despite being late for the late mountain lion P-22, the project represents a significant investment in ecological health, fostering wider animal ranges and enhancing biodiversity throughout the region.
