More than a thousand homes, businesses and other buildings have burned and at least two people are dead in wildfires burning across L.A. County, making this one of the most destructive firestorms to hit the region in memory.
Firefighters were bracing for another challenging day of fire fueled by strong winds. Red flag warnings remain in effect for Los Angeles County and much of Ventura County through Thursday.
We are absolutely not out of danger yet," Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley said, emphasizing the ongoing risk posed by the wildfires and high winds.
The Eaton fire, which broke out Tuesday evening, had burned more than 2,200 acres near Altadena and Pasadena whipped by gusts of up to 99 mph in the area.
