Olumuyiwa Akindahunsi, 29, a homeless man not affiliated with UCLA, was arrested Friday after overnight allegations involving multiple female students. UCLA Police recovered zip ties, duct tape, and paracord nylon rope during the investigation. He was arrested on suspicion of robbery, sexual battery, attempted kidnapping, and assault with intent to commit a sex offense, and is held at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Inmate Reception Center on $2.3 million bail. Officers first responded Thursday at 11:35 p.m. to Bruin Walk for an attempted robbery where a student reported being attacked from behind and having her cellphone stolen. Additional assaults were reported at De Neve Evergreen, Dykstra Hall, and Cedar Hall, with allegations that he attempted to restrain or sexually assault students before they fought back or received bystander help. At 12:05 a.m. Friday, a witness intervened during an ongoing Cedar Hall assault, chased the suspect, and directed officers to Parking Structure 8, where he was taken into custody.
