Chargers safety Elijah Molden has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the team, as announced on Thursday. Molden, acquired in a trade just before last season, had a standout 2022, starting 12 games and contributing significantly to the defense. Despite suffering an injury that placed him on injured reserve, he expressed enthusiasm about his recovery and desire to remain with the Chargers. Molden noted that the franchise has revitalized his career, and he aims to continue building on his success in Los Angeles.
Molden, 26, had a career year with the Chargers, starting 12 games with three interceptions and 75 tackles.
He helped anchor the defense that led the NFL, giving up 17.7 points per game.
Molden said he already communicated to the Chargers front office that he wanted to return after the team traded a seventh-round pick to Tennessee for him.
This is a place that I would love to play; this is a place where that kind of revitalized my career.
