Paul Mainieri has been dismissed as South Carolina's baseball coach after two seasons marked by underperformance. The Gamecocks finished 28-29 in his first season and are currently 12-11. Following a sixth consecutive loss, Mainieri acknowledged the need for new leadership. He expressed regret over not meeting expectations and taking full responsibility for the team's record. Mainieri, who previously enjoyed success at LSU, has a long coaching history but could not restore South Carolina's program to its former glory.
