""She's a true pleasure to coach," San Pedro flag coach Victor Tuberosi said. "Her IQ is what makes her different than others. As a coach, you can call the play, but what impresses me most is her decision-making.""
""Last year hurt more than the first one because we were ahead the whole game," she said. "I can't reverse time. I learned the hard way.""
""They teach each other so much," Tuberosi added."
Madison Adrid has become a key leader for San Pedro High's flag football and girls' varsity basketball teams. She learned to throw from her father before he died of cancer when she was 11. Adrid helped the varsity basketball team win the City Section Division II championship as a freshman and now aims to lead the Pirates to a flag football title after consecutive final losses. She handles the starting quarterback role with maturity and decision-making skill. Adrid passed for 3,732 yards and 51 touchdowns last fall and has strong current-season statistics while remaining an involved student and student government member.
