The New Orleans Saints have appointed Brandon Staley, former head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, as their new defensive coordinator. This is part of a major restructuring by head coach Kellen Moore, who is also expected to bring in Doug Nussmeier as offensive coordinator and Phil Galiano as special teams coordinator. Staley's previous experience as a head coach and defensive coordinator adds depth to the Saints' coaching staff, particularly following his recent tenure with the 49ers and before that, leading the Rams to a top defense in 2020.
Staley will be Saints coach Kellen Moore's third coordinator hire this week, following the anticipated addition of Eagles quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier.
Staley spent 2024 as the San Francisco 49ers assistant head coach, bringing valuable experience to the Saints after previous leadership roles.
