Day two of the MLB Draft resulted in the selection of hundreds of players from rounds 4-20, including two Rhode Island natives. Caleb Leys, hailing from Middletown, was chosen in the 4th round by the Detroit Tigers, after a standout season where he posted a 5-2 record and a 2.69 ERA. Anthony DePino, a University of Rhode Island alum, was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 7th round. DePino is recognized for his impressive URI career, where he set a program record with 65 home runs and achieved a batting average of .298 over four years.
Caleb Leys, a Middletown native, was selected in the 4th round (129th overall) by the Detroit Tigers. Leys was the 2025 America East Pitcher of the Year, with a record of 5-2 and a 2.69 ERA over 67 innings for Maine.
Anthony DePino, an alum from URI, was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 7th round (196th overall). DePino is noted for setting a URI program record with 65 career home runs and a batting average of .298 over four years.
