Officers were sent to the Harbor Base Inn on Connell Highway to make a death notification, the Newport Police Department said in a press release. Police were trying to contact Terry Costello, 85, to announce that her son, 66, had died by suicide, the department said. Officers found Costello's body in one of the hotel's rooms, police said.
