The Arizona Diamondbacks are acquiring infielder Grae Kessinger from the Houston Astros in exchange for minor league pitcher Matthew Linskey.
Kessinger had been designated for assignment by the Astros prior to the holiday break, as Houston made room for new pickup Christian Walker.
With this acquisition, Arizona has enough available spots on their 40-man roster, thereby avoiding the need for additional moves.
