Alex Greenwood Appointed Manchester City Women Captain
Briefly

I'm incredibly proud. It's a real honour to be captain of this fantastic football club and something I'll do with real pride both on and off the pitch. It's a huge Club with huge ambitions that definitely meets mine. To be named captain with that responsibility is something I'm so excited for and won't take lightly. It won't change how I approach things, if anything it'll give me even more motivation to achieve what I want to at City.
Greenwood has now been appointed captain on a permanent basis following the retirement of City legend Steph Houghton, who previously struggled with injury last season.
The defender joined City from Lyon in 2020 and has been a consistent performer in the City backline ever since. Greenwood will lead the Blues into what is hoped to be a WSL-winning season after the team came so close to winning it last season.
