LinkedIn Acquires Tumult Labs to Enhance AI and Privacy
Briefly

LinkedIn has acquired Tumult Labs, a startup focused on privacy-preserving data analytics, to bolster its AI capabilities. Tumult Labs, founded in 2019 by experts in data privacy, will see some of its team integrate into LinkedIn's existing workforce to enhance its AI agents. The startup specializes in using data responsibly while ensuring the privacy of individuals, addressing the growing concerns over data collection. Only select co-founders will join LinkedIn, while Tumult Labs will cease operations as it currently exists within 90 days of the acquisition.
"There is a privacy problem, because rampant data collection means everybody has access to very sensitive data about you. The raw data itself is sensitive, but combining the data across different sources makes it even more sensitive."
"Not everyone has the resources that Census has, or that Google has, or that large companies have to protect their data, which is where we step in to provide a scaling solution."
