The Middlesex Sheriff's Office has installed a naloxone vending machine at the Middlesex Jail & House of Correction, providing free access to opioid overdose reversal medication.
Sheriff Koutoujian stated, 'This new effort builds upon that robust foundation and will help make this life-saving medication more readily available.'
Since its launch on December 9, the vending machine has already been utilized 24 times, indicating a significant need for overdose-related care.
The anonymous access to naloxone is designed to inform future programming, while meeting a critical requirement for community-based prevention efforts.
