New campaign set to tackle abuse and violence at Croydon NHS sites
Briefly

The Croydon Health Services NHS Trust's 'Kindness Matters' initiative aims to address the increasing violence and harassment faced by NHS staff, worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Highlighting the importance of kindness, the campaign features compelling visuals and stories from affected staff. Recent surveys indicate that over 30% of employees have experienced abuse, with significant instances of physical violence recorded. The initiative not only advocates for patient respect towards staff but also promotes kindness among colleagues to foster a supportive workplace culture and reduce incidents of bullying and harassment.
Our staff dedicate their lives to caring for others, often under immense pressure. This campaign is a call for patients, their loved ones, and the wider public to remember that kindness matters when using our services.
More than 30 per cent of the Trust's 4,800 staff had personally experienced harassment, bullying, or abuse at work... Almost 20 per cent of staff reported experiencing physical violence.
