Kelly: Dolphins taking unique and dangerous approach to 2025 draft | Opinion
Briefly

In the lead-up to the 2025 NFL Draft, Miami Dolphins GM Chris Grier faces scrutiny regarding his effectiveness in team building after 10 drafts. Owner Steve Ross will evaluate if Grier's decisions can effectively address team weaknesses, particularly the offensive and defensive lines, and the secondary in light of last year's disappointing 8-9 season due to injuries and poor depth. The performance of the upcoming draft is pivotal for Grier's future and the direction of the team, emphasizing the importance of properly supporting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

When owner Steve Ross meets with Grier and McDaniel before the draft, he needs to be formulating which side of that discussion he sits on regarding the Dolphins' rebuilding efforts.
Grier's decision-making this week should indicate if he's good at team building as they rebuild their offensive line, defensive line, and secondary.
Last year's 8-9 season fell apart due to injuries and a lack of depth, signaling that prior offseason decisions did not adequately address the team’s needs.
