In Homestead, a grandmother, Celestine Ward, faces attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing her daughter during a violent argument that escalated in front of a grandchild. The incident occurred on a Wednesday afternoon, leading to the daughter's critical hospitalization. The argument reportedly began after an earlier drinking session at a restaurant. While Ward claims self-defense, asserting her daughter first attacked her, no injuries were found on Ward, leading to tensions surrounding the motive behind the assault. Investigations continue as authorities gather more information.
Around 3:40 p.m., Homestead police officers were called to a stabbing at a home in the 700 block of Southwest Fourth Avenue, an arrest report read. When an officer knocked on the door, 57-year-old Celestine Ward answered. Just past her, the officer could see a woman sitting in a pool of blood on the living room floor, leaning against a cot bed.
Detectives interviewed a child at the home who said her mother and father had been arguing before the stabbing. Her dad left, and then her mom and grandmother, Ward, started to argue.
