In a recent interview, Bill Gates reflected on unexpected changes in the tech industry, particularly the political leanings of Silicon Valley leaders, which have shifted to a more conservative stance. Gates expressed surprise at notable tech figures' support for right-leaning politics and noted how the rise of social media platforms has led to unforeseen issues. He admitted errors in his previous beliefs about information's role in society, stating that the increasing flow of information has sometimes fueled division rather than educating the public.

The advent of social media brought about ills that I have to say I did not predict. I was wrong to think of more information as always a good thing.
