Power has been restored to 736,000 homes and businesses, but 32,000 customers remain without electricity, predominantly in areas like Sligo, Galway, and Donegal. The National Emergency Co-ordination Group announced that most schools are set to reopen as they have regained power, down from over 300 outages at their peak. ESB Networks is making strides in restoration and expects the remaining outages—primarily affecting schools—will see resolution soon as skilled technicians from various countries assist in the effort.
ESB Networks regional manager Siobhán Wynne reported that about 150 schools were still affected by power outages but expected significant reductions by tomorrow morning.
The National Emergency Co-ordination Group stated that very good progress has been made in restoring power to schools across the country, with reopening expected.
