Police have charged a Sunshine Coast woman with torture after she allegedly poisoned a one-year-old girl and filmed her in distress to solicit donations.
During the child's hospitalization, the woman is accused of posting videos online that attracted over a million followers and raised more than $60,000.
Det Insp Paul Dalton stated that the motives behind the woman's actions were to amass money and an online following, resulting in potentially life-threatening situations for the child.
This alleged attention-seeking fraud not only impacted the child's physical health but also inflicted severe emotional and psychological distress, raising serious concerns for her well-being.
