Robert Mokaya's career illuminates the stark underrepresentation of Black chemists in the UK, as he discovered being the only Black chemistry professor in 2018.
Mokaya initiated the RSC Pan Africa Chemistry Network in 2008, aiming to enhance networking and skills for chemists in Africa, fostering positive change in the field.
Through the Africa Capacity Building Initiative, Mokaya successfully improved training and research opportunities for African chemists, strengthening local capacities in science and technology.
As a mentor for Black students, Mokaya not only shares his journey but also provides critical support and guidance, which is essential for fostering inclusion in academia.
