Argentina, under President Javier Milei, will withdraw from the World Health Organization, driven by perceived sovereignty issues and dissatisfaction with the WHO's pandemic response. Presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni emphasized that the government does not accept foreign influence in its health policies. This move aligns with former President Trump's pullout and concerns that the exit may weaken global health coordination. While NOT receiving WHO funds, Argentina hopes to direct its health policy independently, reflecting rising nationalism and distrust in international organizations amidst a global health crisis.
Argentines are not going to allow an international organization to intervene in our sovereignty, much less in our health.
The decision will not mean a loss of funds for the country, nor does it affect the quality of services.
