Austin Butler has been cast as Patrick Bateman in Luca Guadagnino's new interpretation of American Psycho, moving away from Mary Harron's previous acclaimed adaptation.
The film, based on Bret Easton Ellis's book, features a narcissistic investment banker who is also a serial killer, a role previously performed by Christian Bale.
Guadagnino, known for films like Call Me by Your Name, is not remaking the 2000 film but instead creating a fresh take with a new script by Scott Z Burns.
Butler's recent work includes the Oscar-nominated performance in Elvis, alongside upcoming projects such as Eddington and the thriller Caught Stealing.
