Beavers save Czech taxpayers 800,000 by flooding ex-army training site
Briefly

Beavers in the Czech Republic have inadvertently saved taxpayers $1 million by building their own dams at a former military training site near Prague. Intended for a dam to protect the Klabava River and endangered crayfish, plans were stalled until beavers constructed a wetland twice the expected size, showcasing their ecological engineering skills. The Czech Nature Conservation Agency noted the benefits of the beavers in enhancing water quality and biodiversity, although their activities sometimes face criticism from farmers concerned about tree damage, a non-issue in this protected area.
They built a wetland with pools and canals. The area is roughly twice larger than planned.
It's full service: beavers are absolutely fantastic and when they are in an area where they can't cause damage, they do a brilliant job.
