Body recovered in Galway as search for second missing swimmer continues
Briefly

The search is continuing for a woman in her early 30s who also went missing after going for a swim in Silverstrand this morning. Officials believe both swimmers may have got into difficulty, as one possibly went to aid the other.
The alarm was raised when the man in his 70s failed to return to shore after going for a swim around 8am this morning. Rescue crews are considering the theory that one swimmer may have struggled and the other attempted to assist.
Visibility for rescue efforts is extremely poor due to dense fog, prompting difficulty in locating the missing swimmers. The Irish Coast Guard was unable to deploy a helicopter under these conditions.
Both swimmers were known in the local area as regular swimmers at Silverstrand, highlighting the community’s deep concern as family members gathered at the scene amid the ongoing search.
