Callum Picari, along with his accomplices, was involved in running a fraudulent website that allowed criminals to impersonate trusted organizations to swindle victims into divulging sensitive information. The operation targeted over 12,500 people, resulting in approximately 65,000 spoof calls between 2019 and 2021. Despite efforts to delete incriminating evidence, the National Crime Agency's investigation led to their capture. Picari received a sentence of two years and eight months in prison for fraud and money laundering, while his accomplices faced lighter sentences and community service.
"As this case shows, the NCA has the ability to disrupt and dismantle websites like www.OTP.Agency, which cause harm to the public, and bring those responsible to justice."
"Incriminating messages sent by Callum Picari revealed his operation's extent and the panic among the conspirators as authorities closed in on them."
