Broadcaster and journalist Evanne Ni Chuilinn resigns from RTE and is to become a Fine Gael senator

Former broadcaster Alison Comyn has secured a spot in the Seanad Éireann following the announcement by Fine Gael. The decision comes amidst criticism directed at Taoiseach Micheál Martin for the gender imbalance among his nominees. While 7 of the 11 nominees to the Seanad are women, notable absences, such as Grainne Seoige, have raised eyebrows. Other selected candidates include former Minister Anne Rabbitte and former TD Joe Flaherty. Evanne Ní Chuilinn expressed honor in her new role, emphasizing her desire to effect change in Irish society.

Becoming a Fine Gael Senator is an honour and gives me an opportunity to advance change on a wide range of issues affecting Irish life.

While five of Fianna Fáil's six nominees are women, one notable absence is broadcaster and former election candidate Grainne Seoige.
