The Debezium project has moved to the Commonhaus Foundation following consultations with the community and exclusive sponsor Red Hat. Chris Cranford of Red Hat highlights the foundation's innovative governance, which enables sustained release quality and project independence. This transition allows wider contributions from developers and organizations, enhancing Debezium's status as a leader in Change Data Capture technology. The project, which monitors various databases and integrates with Kafka, recently released version 3.0 and is working on 3.1 with alpha versions expected soon.
Commonhaus stands out because of its innovative governance framework and commitment to project independence. This benefits the Debezium community by allowing us to provide the same release cadence and commitment to excellence that we have today.
Cranford believes that a foundation is best suited to support Debezium's growth and adoption. Moving to a foundation makes contributions from other developers and organizations easier in order for Debezium to remain the open-source leader for Change Data Capture.
