Disappointment as Kneecap miss out on Oscars nod but Irish production company gets two nominations for Trump biopic
Briefly

Irish film company Tailored Films earned two Academy Award nominations for 'The Apprentice,' with Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong recognized in acting categories. Despite high hopes, their biopic did not secure a Best Make-Up and Hairstyling nomination. The film 'Kneecap,' focused on preserving the Irish language, was a significant contender, marking a milestone as only the second Irish-language film ever shortlisted for Best International Feature Film. However, it lost out to international competitors, leading to disappointment among fans and cast during the nomination reveal.
Following the livestreamed nominations from the Oscars, Kneecap posted on Instagram: "F**k the Oscars. Free Palestine." The film is set in west Belfast in 2019, chronicling how fate brings the trio together and how they then go on to "change the sound of Irish music forever."
Kneecap, a fictionalized story about saving the Irish language, was the main hope ahead of today's nominations, being only the second Irish-language film ever shortlisted for Best International Feature.
