Former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz announced his retirement after suffering a severe shoulder dislocation while training for a fight against Rob Font in Seattle. Cruz explained that a routine movement during training, where he posted on his elbow while attempting to get up, caused the dislocation. Previously, he had experienced a less severe dislocation just eight weeks before but managed to recover in time for the upcoming fight. However, the second dislocation resulted in prolonged pain and muscle tension, ultimately forcing him to leave the sport.
When you post on the ground like that with somebody on top of your head, it just pretty much shot out the back the second I put my elbow down and went to pull in that single leg.
The difference with this one from the first one was the first one was only out for maybe three minutes... whereas this second one... did not go back, it just stayed where it was at.
