Downtown Campbell street slated for safety improvements - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

Civic Center Drive in downtown Campbell is set for pedestrian safety improvements, including better crosswalks and curb ramps at Second and Third Streets. This $790,000 project, partly funded by American Rescue Plan dollars, targets long-standing safety issues stemming from outdated infrastructure and speeding cars. With six reported traffic incidents in 2024 alone, the city's Public Works Director stated the drive was designed in the 1970s without much consideration for pedestrian safety. These enhancements aim for lasting changes, starting this winter and anticipated to last six months.
I'll be very happy when we have some permanent improvements in there, and we can really say that we're not looking at short-term improvements anymore.
Civic Center Drive was constructed in the 1970s to connect drivers to downtown, with pedestrian safety not as much of a priority.
