"As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight," John said to the audience while onstage at the Dominion Theatre, according to the Daily Mail. "I haven't been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it." Despite his growing vision problems, John expressed his appreciation for the musical through auditory enjoyment.
"To my husband, who's been my rock, because I haven't been able to come to many of the previews because as you know, I've lost my eyesight, so it's hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it," John expressed during his speech, highlighting the supportive role his husband, David Furnish, has played in his life amidst these challenges.
John has been open about his challenges with his vision over the last few months. In September, he revealed on Instagram that he was battling a serious optic infection that left him with 'limited vision' in one of his eyes. 'I am healing, but it's an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye,' John stated.
