Under Lee Zeldin's leadership, the EPA has recovered approximately $20 billion that was allegedly misallocated by the previous administration to various climate organizations. Zeldin criticized the funding processes as lacking oversight, allowing only select entities to distribute the funds with minimal transparency. He highlighted admissions from EPA officials regarding attempts to expedite the disbursement before the transition to the Trump administration. Zeldin advocates for holding these funds more accountable, signaling an end to unchecked allocations to climate-focused groups under the guise of environmental justice.
Zeldin pointed out that we were told this was happening: In December, Project Veritas caught an EPA adviser on camera admitting that the agency was "trying to get the money out as fast as possible" and "throwing gold bars" off "the Titanic" before the Trump admin could take over and "stop it all."
Zeldin also emphasized: "There's no guarantee that the billions can be clawed back, but the days of irresponsibly shoveling boatloads of cash to far-left activist groups in the name of environmental justice and climate equity are over."
