Plaxico Burress, the wide receiver known for catching the game-winning pass in Super Bowl XLII, is selling his championship ring due to ongoing financial and legal issues. The ring, which has a starting bid of $33,000, is being auctioned by Heritage Auctions and could potentially sell for over $100,000. Burress has had a turbulent post-NFL life, marked by a firearm incident that altered his career, and he has not worn his Super Bowl ring frequently. Currently, he co-hosts a radio show and operates a juice bar in New Jersey.
"I would assume it's in 2024 - that's the assumption we have to take," Ivy told The Post, revealing that Burress’ Super Bowl ring was likely hocked recently.
The ring, celebrated for the 2007 NFL championship, is being sold on behalf of an anonymous new owner after Burress' financial issues became public.
Burress caught the game-winning pass against the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, marking one of the greatest upsets in the game's history.
While he briefly enjoyed fame and success, Burress' career faltered after an accidental firearm incident, leading to a plea deal and significant personal challenges.
