Flash flood watch issued for Boston and South Shore communities

Boston, Quincy, Brockton, and other South Shore communities are under a flood watch until 9 a.m. A flash flood advisory is in effect in Rhode Island, eastern Massachusetts, and parts of northern Connecticut until 4 p.m. Doppler radar shows thunderstorms producing heavy rain, with most areas forecasted to receive 1 to 2 inches in one hour and up to 4 inches in some locations. Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roads, as water depths may be unpredictable.
