Gardaí in Co Cavan uncovered a substantial cannabis operation worth over €500,000 in a house search in Belturbet. The operation yielded 111 cannabis saplings and more than 25 kilograms of cannabis herb. Described as sophisticated, this seizure is part of Operation Tara, a national anti-drugs strategy initiated on July 2, 2021, to combat drug trafficking in the Cavan/Monaghan region. Although no arrests were made at the time of the operation, forensic analysis has been initiated to ascertain more details about the drugs involved.
