Darren Owen, founder of GFL, expressed satisfaction with the inaugural draft's performance despite early leaks of the draft order. While the draft appeared spontaneous, Owen revealed it was largely predetermined, aiming for optimal matchups and regional fan appeal. During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, he explained that the leak, which trended on social media, might have benefited the league, turning an issue into an opportunity for exposure. Owen acknowledged the complexity in coordinating with coaches and teams to craft a competitive and popular roster.
