The rivalry game between Arizona and Arizona State became heated, culminating in an emotional confrontation with players from both sides exchanging trash talk and a headbutt. Arizona State's coach Bobby Hurley expressed frustration over the lack of control regarding Arizona's players' behavior after their 81-72 loss, calling the post-win celebration classless. The game saw a first-half technical foul and culminated in ejections for players on both teams amid escalating tensions, highlighting the intensity of the Territorial Cup rivalry that had been relatively civil prior to this encounter.
Right near our bench, it was relentless, constant chatter from a couple of Arizona's players that wasn't being policed properly. Of course they're going to be happy with winning, but it was done with no class, in my opinion.
Obviously, it's disappointing, probably on all sides. When tough things happen, we want to be a program that responds with class, and I don't know if we did or didn't.
