In preparation for the afterlife, royals, dignitaries, and the wealthy elite constructed great tombs. These were painted with ornamental murals that shared one's accomplishments, packed with artwork and riches.
Researchers from the Mission Archéologique Franco-Suisse de Saqqâra discovered smaller burials, including a 'kiln' tomb, characterized by their vaulted ceiling and built several meters below the ground.
