In a decisive move, a general in Iran's Revolutionary Guards has been charged by New York authorities for an alleged conspiracy to assassinate dissident journalist Masih Alinejad.
Attorney General Merrick Garland emphasized that the Justice Department charged eight individuals, including an Iranian military official, for attempting to silence and kill a US citizen due to her criticism of the Iranian regime.
Masih Alinejad remarked on her social media that the assassination plot highlights the extreme measures the Islamic regime will take against dissidents even outside Iran's borders.
U.S. Attorney Damian Williams stated that the criminal gang, thought to have multiple international connections, acted not independently but under the command of Iranian co-conspirators.
