Is the Staten Island Costco gas station closing? Here's what we know
Briefly

Rumors about the closure of the Staten Island Costco gas station have circulated for months, confirmed by a sign stating the station would close for renovations starting July 21. However, administration clarified that renovations are postponed to September, allowing operations to continue for now. The work involves updating gasoline supply lines and expanding the canopy and fire suppression system, with completion expected in two to three months. Costco's gas typically offers substantial savings to customers, making it a popular option, and pump hours have recently expanded to meet demand.
According to plans filed with the NYC Department of Buildings in June, the store is installing new gasoline supply lines and expanding the existing canopy and fire suppression system that shelters the pumps.
The renovations have been postponed, pushed back to September, allowing customers to still use the pumps for at least a few more months.
Gas is a big seller for the warehouse retailer, which typically offers steep savings, topping its competitors' prices by about 15 to 25 cents per gallon.
An attendant at the gas station said the work is expected to take approximately two to three months to complete and will replace infrastructure that has not been updated since 1995.
