Joaquin Buckley Says Covington's Character "It's getting old"
Briefly

"I ain't going to lie to you. I wanted that fight. We was promoting Buck vs. Cuck and that was going to be one the biggest things around." Buckley expressed his disappointment about not facing Ian Garry but believes his fight against Colby Covington will still be significant. He mentioned the promotional potential of the anticipated matchup and felt it served as solid motivation ahead of UFC Tampa.
"(Covington) has won the interim title. A person that's fought for the title three times even though he lost. He got a big name. He has a big persona, he got big connections, like with the president." Buckley acknowledged Covington's past as a title contender, emphasizing the significance of facing someone with such a large following and connections, adding weight to their bout.
"The Colby fight is way bigger than the Ian Garry fight." Buckley believes that taking on Covington will elevate his profile more than fighting Garry would have, asserting that the match carries higher stakes and more visibility.
"I feel like the dude that he portrays is obviously a character, and everybody knows it. It's not a secret. Everybody knows he's trying to do like the WWE persona. I feel like it got him very far and got him exactly where he needs to be; now it's getting old. It has no value anymore." Buckley feels Covington's brash persona is losing its edge and aims to use this fight as an opportunity to increase his own visibility.
