Judge Keyser KC ruled that James Howells' claim to recover a lost hard drive containing 600m in bitcoin has no realistic prospect of succeeding and is thus dismissed.
Howells asserts that in 2013, he mistakenly discarded a hard drive containing a significant bitcoin wallet, which was then taken to a council dump.
Howells's lawyer argued that the search for the hard drive involved a targeted excavation, not just an aimless search, attempting to emphasize the precision of the recovery effort.
The council maintained that the hard drive became their property once it entered their land, thus denying Howells's claim to retrieve it.
