Justice Department wants to release only part of its report on Trump cases
Briefly

The Justice Department aims to publicly release only the first volume of Special Counsel Jack Smith's report regarding the 2020 election, citing ongoing investigations.
DOJ lawyers noted, 'To avoid any risk of prejudice to defendants Nauta and De Oliveira, the Attorney General has determined... he will not publicly release Volume Two...'
The limited release to select lawmakers will, according to the DOJ, 'further the public interest in keeping congressional leadership apprised of a significant matter within the Department while safeguarding defendants' interests.'
Florida Judge Aileen Cannon has temporarily blocked the Justice Department from releasing Smith's final report, pending an appeal court's emergency motion.
