O'Byrne labeled the collaborative forum for survivors as a 'sham', expressing disappointment that Zappone left them without answers, both for the living and the deceased.
Reflecting on her own experience, O'Byrne noted, 'We, the mothers, were never allowed to have our say of the living experiences while incarcerated and sentenced for the crime of breaking the original sin.'
O'Byrne condemned Zappone's nomination for a Senate seat, claiming, 'She headed off into the sunset without a care and left mother and baby home survivors in dismay.'
