Kerr: Calling officer 'white' was not an insult
Briefly

Chelsea striker Sam Kerr testified in her trial regarding allegations of racially aggravated harassment. During her cross-examination, Kerr acknowledged making comments towards police constable Stephen Lovell but insisted she did not mean to use 'white' as an insult. Instead, she indicated that her statements were about privilege and power dynamics, arguing that Lovell and police did not understand her fears which led to her outburst. Kerr asserts that her comments reflected a response to how she felt treated during the encounter, rather than a racially charged insult.
I believed it was him using his power and privilege over me because he was accusing me of being something I'm not ... they would never have to understand what we had just gone through.
I believed they were treating me differently because of what they perceived to be the color of my skin -- particularly PC Lovell's behavior.
