The Brentwood Centre has installed the Poolpod 3, a submersible lift designed to assist individuals with limited mobility in accessing the swimming pool. This installation, made possible through grant funding from the Brentwood Borough Council and the Brentwood Access Group, aims to provide dignified and flexible access for users. Councillor Dr Tim Barrett emphasized the significant impact the Poolpod will have on individuals who had previously found using traditional pool ladders challenging. The initiative is part of broader efforts to promote inclusive physical activity within the community, ensuring that all residents can benefit from the health advantages of swimming.
The Poolpod is self-operated and is going to make such a difference to anyone who stopped swimming at the Brentwood Centre because they found using a pool ladder difficult or impossible.
We are pleased that the council has been able to work with partners to improve inclusive physical activity for our communities.
The introduction of this upgraded technology is a major step forward for accessibility at our site.
It ensures that more people than ever can enjoy the benefits of swimming, whether for fitness, rehabilitation, or simply the joy of being in the water.
