Los Gatos senior housing development back on track - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

The Los Gatos Town Council has approved the redevelopment of the Los Gatos Meadows, a 209-home project tailored for older adults. This initiative, driven by Rockwood Pacific and Front Porch Communities, aims to revitalize the former community closed since 2019 due to safety issues. With a significant increase projected in the older adult demographic in Santa Clara County, Mayor Matthew Hudes advocates for aging in place, highlighting the necessity of supportive housing in the area. Although the project does not include affordable housing, there is an agreement for affordable units at a separate location.
Mayor Matthew Hudes emphasized, "Aging in place is really important, not only at the Meadows, but in the rest of Los Gatos. We need to provide what they call village services that allow people to stay in their homes with the kind of support that they need."
The project, which is expected to be completed by late 2029, will provide more housing options for Los Gatos' growing older adult population, which currently constitutes about 20% of the residents.
